Sony Corporation was founded by Akio Morita and Masaru Ibuka in Japan. Masaru Ibuka worked at Japan Precision Instrument Co during the world war. After the war ended Ibuka joined with 20 engineers to start Tokyo Tsushin Kenkyujo (Tokyo Telecommunications Laboratory) where they developed and produced communications equipment. Together they built the Japan’s first tape recorder, and named it Type-G. Soon Sony managed to produce the transistor radio, the Trinitron television, the Betamax VCR, the CD player, the Walkman portable cassette player, and the PlayStation game. Sony’s the prison issue Walkman SRF-39FP (that FP stands for Federal Prison) comes with a see-through case so inmates can’t hide any contraband inside.
