Co-Enzyme Q10 primarily works within the mitochondria of the cell which is ultimately the site of energy generation. Co-Enzyme Q10 plays a crucial role in the production of energy in every cell of the body. It acts as a free radical scavenger and antioxidant whereby protecting the cells from oxidative stress and free radical damage. Co-Enzyme Q10 is responsible for a healthy heart and cardiovascular system. Co-Enzyme Q10 also helps to maintain healthy cholesterol and blood pressure levels in healthy individuals. As levels of Co-enzyme Q10 within the body decline with age, supplementation is of particular importance. Good sources of Co-Enzyme Q10 include spinach, beef, pork and oily fish.
