Kambrook was founded by Frank Bannigan in 1964. He started the company as a small kitchen appliance shop in his own garage in Melbourne, Australia. At the time he was living in a road called Kambrook road, since he liked that name he decided to name his company Kambrook. Frank’s first major invention was a result of his frustration at the lack of electrical sockets for testing appliances, so he came up with the 4-way power board. This invention became a huge worldwide hit within a short time. However Frank failed to register for a patent for his great invention, so as a result the market started to flood with competitors. However he managed to come up with other inventions like the popular plug-in electric timer. Frank invented the plastic kettle in 1977, it was much cheaper and safer than metal kettles. This turned out to be a huge success and it sold more than 250,000 units during its first year.
