The founder Calvin Klein was born in 1942. As a young boy he taught himself how to sew and sketch. Growing up he studied fashion in New York City and found work as an apprentice for a suit manufacturer. In 1968 he managed open his very own Calvin Klein Company in New York. By 1979, Calvin Klein controlled one-fifth of the designer jeans market. And he successfully entered the undergarment business towards 1982.
