Boasting gracefully uncomplicated gameplay, Ticket to Ride can be acquired in only 3 minutes, offering players the chance to make strategic and tactical choices on every turn. Players gather different kinds of train car cards to capture routes across North America. The lengthier the routes, the greater the points earned. Bonus points await those who complete Destination Tickets that connect far-flung cities; and the player who constructs the longest unbroken route.

According to Ticket to Ride creator Alan R. Moon, the rules are pretty straightforward - just draw cards, claim routes, or nab more Destination Tickets. The real excitement comes from trying to decide between grabbing more cards or risking losing a crucial route to another player.
