An electric drill is required to secure the screws into the feet for proper assembly.

The sofa does not require the connectors for regular use, but they are supplied as an optional feature. If you wish to lock the two sofa sections in place, position the sections together and drill in the connectors along the edge of the base frame, following the indicated line.
