Sky-Watcher Classic 200P Dobsonian Telescope
(Sky-Watcher SWDOB200)
We Think You Should Know
Overview
The Sky-Watcher 8' Dobsonian is a large aperture Newtonian reflector telescope with an f/6 focal ratio, making it ideal for wide field and deep-sky observation. A big aperture means better light gathering power and with this Sky-Watcher Telescope, you are able to see prominent deep-sky objects such as nebulae, star clusters and many more. To top it off, the Sky-Watcher Classic Dobsonians are equipped with a 2' Crayford focuser and focuser locking screw - to allow easy use of either eyepiece size.

As a beginner I chose this product for a number of reasons. On delivery the box carrying the optical tube was quite damaged and torn on one corner. On carful removal I could see that the tube appeared to be undamaged. At this point I was rather alarmed at the size as I hadn't realised just how big this telescope was. The only problem I found in setting up was that the primary mirror locking screws at the base of the optical tube were loose and just hanging in there. Upon completion of setting up this telescope, it stood tall and very impressive. Having now watched many videos on this particular telescope I started to put into practice what I had read and watched. Unfortunately, what I see in the finder scope is totally different to what if anything I see in focusing tube. When I measure the distance between the two it's some 5 inches out. So I reached out to Ryda from where it had been sent ...twice and I'm still waiting for some reply on what to do next as I am unable to use the telescope. My gut feeling tells me that Collimation is require provided it's not damaged inside. At the moment for a brand new item I feel somewhat disenchanted and let down, however I'm sure that will change once the telescope is up and running. As to what to do next I will wait another couple of days for a reply then engage the professional services here in WA to solve my problems.
