Okujou No Mannaka De Kimi No Kokoro - Yuuka Aisaka CD
Additional Info: Logistics is a rising drum'n'bass DJ who attempts to paint some pleasing sonic pictures on this lengthy, adventurous album. Whether it is the opening track, "Beatbox Master," which sounds like a cross between the Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim, or a slightly tamer version of the same jungle approach on "Call Me Back," Logistics knows what seems to work. Yet he is also adept at changing moods and tones, particularly during the ambient, ethereal, and atmospheric "Everything Is Illuminated." The pacing is generally quite high, making one search for beads, a pacifier, or glo-sticks of the rave scene in its heyday, particularly on the groovy "Machine," which could be mistaken for a remix of a song by the Streets. The same can be said for the uptempo, high-octane energy fueling "Shooting Star." A funkier approach during "Take Me to the Bridge" also contains some strong big beat sounds from start to finish, while the soulful "Winter Blues" has a more percussion-driven punch. Not everything comes up sounding fantastic, with "Every Beat of My Heart" marginally decent for a dancefloor. Yet "Haunted by Her Yesterdays" is a softer, lighter jungle number that shows another side of Logistics. Disc two, entitled More Than Ever, offers up basically more of the same. "Welcome to the Future" is an early highlight that finds its groove quickly and stays on course, as does the slightly more adventurous "Girl from Mars." Another song with a special intangible quality is the tight, slick "Release the Pressure." But basically, Logistics keeps the drums and bass serving as the album's catalysts during "Colour Wheel" and the finely crafted "Red Sky at Night." ~ Jason MacNeil
