Whatever the reason, sometimes we like to melt carob and yoghurt for decorating cakes or cookies. It is really easy, provided you follow these few steps:
1. Empty the carob or yoghurt drops into a microwave safe container.
2. Pop the container in to the microwave.
3. The really important bit – lower the power on your microwave* to its lowest setting.
4. Heat the buds until they are soft – bear in mind that the buds will hold their shape even when soft until they are touched. Stirring the buds every couple of minutes will speed up the process and lessen the chance of burning.
Remembering to lower the power setting before returning any unmelted buds to the microwave. Oh, and now that it’s melted – it’s going to be hot! Take care. Once melted, the carob/yoghurt can be used for icing and writing on cakes, dipping biscuits in, pouring into moulds, making bigger multi-coloured treats or just about anything. The only limit is your imagination. Don’t like what you’ve made? No problem, you can easily remelt the carob/yogurt once it has set. Just start again from step 1.
