Traditionally used in Chinese medicine, the herbs and oils have been selected for temporary pain relief and local reduction in inflammation, whilst improving circulation and healing to a specific area.

Zen Liniment contains:
- Boswellia carterii stem bark resin: In China and India this herb has been used for centuries to treat inflammatory arthritis. It contains boswellic acids, shown to invigorate the blood helping relieve muscle pain and reduce swelling.
- Panax pseudoginseng root: This herb works to eliminate blood stasis which improves blood circulation which reduces bruising and swelling, helping to speed up recovery time.
- Angelica polymorpha root: A Traditional Chinese herb well known in Eastern medicine for its anti-inflammatory properties and its positive effect on relieving pain. Additionally it used to nourish and moisturise the joints to promote mobility.
- Spatholobus suberectus stem: This herb has been added to the formulation as it enriches the blood and promotes blood circulation whilst relaxing tendons. Traditional indications for its use in Eastern medicine when related to joints and muscles are for soreness, numbness, and immovability of extremities.
- Commiphora myrrha stem bark resin: The Chinese used this herb in ancient medicine to treat wounds and bruises. It is also considered a pain reliever when pain is the result of blood stagnation.
- Drynaria fortunei rhizome: Helping activate blood circulation manifested as rheumatism. It restores bones and tendons, for fracture and trauma.
- Dipsacus japonicus root: Has been traditionally used for broken bones, raptured tendons and broken skin.
- Arnica montana flower: Arnica Montana has anti-inflammatory properties. When applied to the skin it offers pain relief associated with sporting injuries, such as sprains, bruises and general muscle aches.
- Mentha arvensis herb oil: Also known as Japanese mint, this oil has a beautiful scent and has traditionally been used for its pain relieving properties.
- Cajuput oil: Has a warming effect which promotes circulation. The oil provides a smoother touch on the skin.
Directions:
Adults & Children: Apply 4-8 drops to the affected area, 1-4 times daily.
Children under 2 years of age: Consult a physician.

Rod Berger B.App.Sc. (TCM).ND is a Naturopath and herbalist specialist. He completed a Bachelor of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1987 and also that year his diploma in Nutrition and Western Herbal Medicine. After further study he also completed Naturopathic College in 1992.
Rod then travelled to China for post graduate TCM study at the Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Nanning. He learnt how Eastern medicine addresses both important joint & muscle symptom relief combined with the principals of balancing energy, strengthening organs and building reserves within the body.
In 1990 Rod was working in clinics in Queensland, whilst teaching at the Australian School of Eastern Medicine and Arts. It was during his time in Queensland in the early 90's that he discovered a lack of products readily available to the public based on Eastern principles. He used his knowledge to create innovative formulations using a hybrid of Chinese and Aryuveda ingredients to provide more than just pain relief but the opportunity to repair joints and muscles from injury. It was the success of these formulation that Zen Therapeutics was born.
