Model: GIDGEE20
We are the Melbourne suppliers of Gidgee Charcoal for Smoking and Charcoal Grilling - 20KG. Gidgee natural lump charcoal is extremely dense and heavy coal. The benefit of these characteristics is high heat and longer burn time when compared to lighter coals such as mangrove or river red gum. Gidgee charcoal does produce more ash than other charcoal however this isn't an issue unless you are cooking in windy conditions.
Our gidgee charcoal is chemical free, sustainably sourced and produced in Queensland, screened over a 50mm sift to ensure you have minimal crumbs then transported down on large B-doubles. The average size is approximately 70mm but larger lumps can also be found in the bags. Please note that charcoal is fragile so the bags will always contain smaller crumbs as the coal breaks during transport. Don't believe any retailer that claims all their coal is large with no smaller crumbs.
Because of Gidgees size and burning characteristics, this makes it suitable for high heat barbequing where you need to cook and seer steaks, it's also great for snake method and minion methods of smoking. Because of its high heat and long burn time, Gidgee is excellent coal for use in offset smokers, ugly drum smokers, pizza ovens and height-adjustable charcoal grills. Larger spit roasters and ceramic cookers such as big green eggs and komodos would benefit more by using the longer slightly lower temperatures produced by Mallee root lump charcoal.
If you are looking for an all-round charcoal that's great for smoking, spit roasting and charcoal barbecuing, then have a look at the Hardwood Lump BBQ Charcoal. It is a high temperature long burning charcoal that produces minimal smoke and has consistent lump sizes all through the bag.
Sold in 20kg bags.
A large number of BBQ Spit Rotisseries' products are covered for a period of one year from the date of purchase against defects in workmanship and materials. Some even come with a 24 month warranty such as Flaming Coals branded rotisserie motors. Please refer to the product's description to check if a warranty is provided for the product.
The product warranty becomes void if the product shows evidence of being dropped, exposed to the elements, tampering, mishandling or mis-use such as excessive fire or a motor not being counter-weighted. Stainless steel is not immune to rusting/pitting and is therefore not covered under warranty.
Charcoal pans inside spit roasters are designed to take the brunt of the heat to protect the structural integrity of the spit roaster body. Due to the extreme heat generated when cooking with briquettes/charcoal, some bending of the pan is inevitable and will occur regardless of the thickness of the steel. This is not covered under warranty.
All BBQ Spit Rotisseries' products have been tested and deemed suitable for domestic use only. Using these products commercially voids the warranty. The warranty does not cover postal cost, insurance, incidental charges or any other loss incurred.
