Glencadam distillery has been around for nearly 200 years, but has only recently emerged as a proper single malt. The spirit is known for possessing a rather thick and fruity character – on full show with this dram. This single malt has been aged exclusively in American oak former-Bourbon barrels, allowing the spirit’s natural qualities to shine through. Found close to the Scottish Eastern Coast, this Highland distillery has historically been a part of the Stewart's Cream of the Barley blend – once a world famous blend.Under the ownership of Angus Dundee, the whisky has taken its place amongst the more interesting Highland Single Malts. These days, Glencadam is esteemed for its thick, waxy style – developed by a distillation process that maximizes the "reflux" (the amount of spirit that falls back into the still to be redistilled).This bottling is an excellent example of the Glencadam house-style: fruity, waxy and packed with character.
