A Look Into Pastel Chic Interiors

Different colours are said to have a different effect on our brain. Every day we come across a rainbow of colours wherever we go and our mood supposedly changes when observing them. A great way to embrace colours in your life is by incorporating them into your home. Come home to colours that immediately calm you down and help you relax.

Decorating your home with pastels is an excellent way to add some softness. Pastel colours can be best described as ice cream colours and everyone loves ice cream, right? These colours are created by adding white to solid colours that result in a lighter version of the colour that instantly lights up a room. The lowered intensity of these colours is what makes them so soothing for the eyes.

Popular Pastel Colours

Express your personal style through different pastel colours. There are a few colours that are commonly used for home interiors. You can use each of these colours to express a different mood.

Pink Perfection

One of the most common pastel colours, pastel pink is the perfect way to add colour to your home. The warm tones of pink combined with the luminescence of white results in a colour that looks good just about anywhere.

Peaches and Cream

Pastel peach can also be considered a lighter form of orange. It’s the perfect sunset shade but not as bold and fiery as orange. Cream on the other hand is the perfect neutral colour that works especially well for common rooms such as the living and dining area.

Lavender Magic

We all know how calming the scent of lavender can be. Funnily, the lavender colour also seems to have a relaxing and calming effect. Moreover, this is a unique colour that would really make your home interiors stand out.

Blue Side

You will never feel blue with this shade of blue adorning your house. Pastel blue feels like a breath of fresh air. Wherever you use this colour in the house, it will create a space that looks breezy and inviting.

Summer Green

Green has always been considered a soothing colour. It is the colour that we associate with nature and that is what makes it so appealing. While pastel greens look good in any room, decorating your study or kitchen in this colour will be ideal.

Yellow Rays

The best way to describe pastel yellow is winter sunshine. It’s that shade of yellow that’s not as bright as the sun but not as dull as a cloudy day.  Pastel yellow is often used to decorate gender-neutral nurseries. However, this colour has the potential to make a room shine, especially during the daytime which makes it perfect for any room in the house.

Pastel Chic Interiors

Interior designers absolutely love pastel interiors, incorporating these beautiful colours through a variety of furniture pieces, decoration patterns and more.

Bedroom

For the bedroom, blue, pink and green in pastel would be ideal. You can opt for sheet sets, quilt cover sets or pillow covers in these particular colours. An accent chair or a storage bench in a complimentary colour to your bed sheets would work well. So, if you have pastel blue bed sheets then a pastel pink chair in the room would bring it all together. While you can use pastel blue, green and pink in your bedroom, you can also couple these colours with darker colours such as charcoal grey or darker shades of the same colour to add some depth to the room.

The specialty of pastel colours is that they can make any room look and feel light. Add some lightweight sheer white curtains in the room that allow natural light to pass through and flow with the breeze. Keep in mind that you need to have a good amount of natural colours throughout the room as well. So, a wooden bedframe and side tables coupled with a jute rug would work just fine.

Living Room

Incorporating pastel furniture in your living room can be done in a few ways. The colour of your walls can give you drastically different looks. If you get a lot of natural light in your living room, we would recommend going for white or pastel-coloured walls paired with pastel furniture. Pair it up with a vintage rug, light-coloured wooden or metal coffee and side tables. If you have the space for a TV unit and shelves in the living room then opt for light colours again. White and light browns look the best with pastel colours and would brighten up the room even more.

On the other hand, you can pair pastel furniture with dark-coloured walls. This will make the room look dramatic and colourful. Dark wooden furniture would look best in this scenario. Dark brown and black furniture pieces are what you will need.

Kitchen and Dining

Pastel colours work best with an open kitchen plan. Lavender cabinets or pastel peach-coloured walls with a wooden dining table and some soft lighting give you the perfect kitchen and dining area. You can also get yourselves pots and pans in pastel colours to really enhance the colour in the room.

A great way to add some more pastel elements to your dining area is by adding flowers. On the other hand, you could opt for pastel dining chairs or dining table covers. For the dining area, we would recommend pairing your pastels with white. So a white dining table with pastel chairs would look good. On the other hand, you can have white cabinets paired with pastel-coloured utensils.

Other Ways To Incorporate Pastels

You don’t have to stick to furniture or paint to add pastels to the interiors of your home. If you are a fan of the natural look, you can opt for rattan, bamboo or wood furniture but add colour through accessories.

Cushion covers in pastel colours are an excellent way to add a wash of colour to your living room. With the pastel palette, we also recommend sticking to materials such as cotton, bamboo and linen. However, if you are going for a more luxurious look, velvet in pastel colours is a great option as well. Rugs and runners in pastel colours are an excellent way to add colour to a room. Wall art, planters, throw blankets and even lampshades in soft pastels can be used to decorate a room lacking some colour.

At the end of the day, pastel interiors are meant to brighten up your home. How you choose to incorporate these colours in your home is completely up to you. You can either turn the whole room into a pastel paradise or keep it chic with just a few pieces of furniture or decorative pieces.
