Activated carbon is ideal for removing the yellow tinge in water caused by tannin staining from timber and drift woods. Activated carbon will also absorb odours, antibiotics, some toxins, dyes and left over medications. Very importantly Activated Carbon will also absorb dissolved organic compounds from pollutants and fish waste. You should remove Activated Carbon when using any medications. Activated carbon will have little effect on removing beneficial elements like trace elements and iron in planted aquaria.

Leave Carbon in netting bag and rinse until the water runs clear. Ideally Serenity Activated Carbon should be placed in a high flow area such as in canister filters, top filters or in fluid bed reactors (being careful not to move the pellets excessively in reactors) Replace your Serenity Activated Carbon every 3 months or if you see any yellow tint return to your aquarium.
