Not all stainless steel grades are equivalent in quality. Enduro exclusively employs 440C stainless steel balls and races to offer extended durability and superior corrosion resistance in various challenging applications and environments. Among the standard 440-series stainless alloys with high carbon content, 440C stands out for its exceptional strength, hardness, and wear resistance. It is notably the most expensive within the 440 series due to the necessity for multiple rounds of heat and cryogenic treatments to attain its superior mechanical properties. Despite having a 20% lower load capacity and being marginally softer than our standard 52100 chromium steel utilized in most of our bearings, stainless steel serves as an excellent choice for use in moist conditions, frequent bike washes, or areas prone to sweat. To further enhance water resistance against environmental elements, Enduro Bearings incorporate LLB-type seals and CRC Marine Grease in these bearings. The Enduro 440C stainless headset bearings are identical to those found in numerous renowned headset brands, some of which offer a 110-year warranty.
The Enduro range of angular-contact headset bearings initiates with Black Oxide treated Chromium Steel races, progresses to full 440C stainless steel, and culminates in the top-tier XD-15 aerospace-stainless (comprising both races and balls) with a lifetime guarantee. Each bearing is meticulously engineered with the largest possible balls, featuring dual-lip seal maneuvering within a micro-groove (labyrinth) and filled to 90% capacity with high-pressure waterproof grease, ensuring superior protection against sweat and environmental elements. Moreover, the design of Enduro Angular Contact (A/C) bearings is tailored to ensure that all balls are evenly engaged, effectively distributing force across a broader surface area, thereby reducing friction, limiting wear, and maximizing the bearing's operational lifespan.
