Among the standard 440-series stainless alloys with high carbon content, 440C stands out due to its unparalleled strength, hardness, and wear resistance. As anticipated, it's also the most costly among the 440 series alloys and requires multiple rounds of heat treatment and cryogenic processes to attain its superior mechanical properties. While stainless steel has 20% less load capacity and is marginally softer than our typical 52100 chromium steel utilized in the majority of our bearings, it serves as an outstanding alternative for use in wet conditions, frequent bike washes, or areas prone to sweat. To further enhance waterproofing against environmental elements, Enduro Bearings incorporate LLB-type seals and CRC Marine Grease in these bearings. Notably, Enduro 440C stainless headset bearings are identical to those found in numerous renowned headset brands that offer an extensive 110-year warranty.

The Enduro series of angular-contact headset bearings begin with Black Oxide treated Chromium Steel races, advance to complete 440C stainless steel, and reach the pinnacle with the XD-15 aerospace-stainless range that boasts a lifetime guarantee for both races and balls. These bearings are consistently engineered to accommodate the largest possible balls and feature dual-lip seals riding within a micro-groove (labyrinth). Filled to 90% capacity with high-pressure waterproof grease, they offer unparalleled protection against sweat and environmental elements.
